March 21th: World Poetry Day

World Poetry Day
March 21, 2012
Not just another protest, but an OTHER protest
Poetry against the Crisis

because Greeks are entitled to a life with dignity....

"We are devastated with what is happening in Greece and we wish to express our solidarity to fellow Greek poets and all citizens of the land of Homer. We urge Greek authorities to place the interests of the Greek people ahead of the interests of speculators, banks, and profit-mongering European and international organizations.

The World Poetry Movement, integrating 220 international poetry organizations and 1,235 poets from 134 countries, appeals to poets, readers, and all concerned individuals in every country to express their support for Greek people, demanding changes in government policies, an end to shameful stereotypes, and initiatives in line with ideals of solidarity and human rights.

World Poetry Movement (WPM)
Coordinating Committee
"

On March 21, let poems become our slogans, let poets be our reference points, let verses on our picket signs give life to new reflections, to a different future growing out of our present and past.

Again, the comenius participants met for drawing activities, musical activities and song rehearsal.

That night was Michaella's party for all the children and teachers by each delegation. We had a wonderful time together!!!

Wednesday 7-3-12

In front of the Archaeological Museum, in Nicosia
Wednesday was a very interesting day and that's cause we got to see Cyprus a little better.

We had an excursion for the day to Nicosia and visited the archeological museum and we passed the Green Line.

We also saw the town hall  and the national theatre, the Archbishop house and lastly the statue of liberty!

Later that day, we visited lefkara where we hanged around and saw new places. Then we headed back to Limassol where the families were waiting for us.

We left Athens’s National Airport at 15:45 and we arrived at Larnaka at 17:30.

Then, we took a taxi and headed towards St. George of Chavouzas, where we met the hosting families for the first time.

They were very friendly and open-hearted. We went home and we talked for several hours and then we went out for dinner.

Impressions from Cyprus!

Christina’s Impressions from the 2nd Comenius Meeting in Cyprus!
We left Athens’s National Airport at 15:45, on Sunday 4th March. We arrived at Larnaka's airport at 16:30 in the afternoon. Then, we all got a taxi and arrived in Limmasol, where we were about to spent our week.

We spent the 1st day with the families. Everyone was so kind and friendly. The families made us feel like we were in our own homes.

Monday was our first day in school! It was quite tough to wake up at 6:30 in the morning :/ However, there we met a lot of new people! Day by day, we got to know each other even better. The activities at the school, were really nice and interesting. At the evenings, we were hanging around on several areas! Michaella’s party was absolutely awesome and the Karaoke night on Friday, as well.

It is so sad, that this incredible week has come to an end! But luckily, all of us left with such wonderful memories from Cyprus; wonderful people and moments, which will always have in our hearts.
